Frīġedæġ

Friday.

I’ve started writing a story about a girl named Freyja, which feels perfectly appropriate for today.

I love history.

I love learning about other people’s history.

It’s as though I can feel

what someone else a world

and a century away was feeling

as they went about their normal lives.

Friday is named after Frigg,

who may also be Freyja,

depending on the source.

She is the goddess of foreknowledge and wisdom

in Norse mythology.

When I imagine being able to know what will happen,

Before it does

I can understand why one would also require

a certain amount of wisdom.

How would you live your life

if you knew something in advance?

Would it make life better,

Or would you alter things

for the worse unknowingly?

Or worse,

Stay inside and never live

while you waited to die?

Deep thoughts on a Friday,

triggered by a girl named Freyja,

causing me to research and wonder.

  1. Looking forward to this story Heather. The reality for me is when I stay really close to God, I sometimes get a sense of what’s to come without specific knowledge. I fear far less with God than in my life without Him. If anything, knowing more in advance would encourage me to lean on Him more. May He bless your time this Saturday.
