The loose tooth

Well, it was bound to happen.

“Mommy! I have a loose tooth!”

I watched as my first baby wiggled the middle bottom tooth.

It can’t be happening so soon, can it?

Wasn’t it just yesterday they were fussy and drooling, getting them for the first time?

Such a cute little grin, with hardly any white to show.

Now here we are, not even seven years later with a micro-wobble indicating that yes, we really are going to do this.

And sooner than I was ready for, even though half of their classmates have already been walking around with spaces in their smiles for months now.

My little one growing so big. Where does the time go? It feels like just yesterday and now the first step to adulthood begins.

It’s only a tooth, I remind myself, but still.

Hold onto the moments.

They fly as fast as the tooth fairy,

who apparently brings a dollar per tooth.
