The big questions

Another day closer to the end of the month, nine months down and counting. October will soon be here which is good, as my three year old is obsessed with saying, “Halloween time is here!”

Every time it’s dark outside.

And it feels as though winter will soon be here, even though the week has been a comfortable one, with rain, but without the crispness of the morning air the way it was the previous week.

Life has been another seemingly never ending list of chores and necessities, leaving little time for the moments of relaxation which make life worth living.

I’m thankful for the happiness my children bring, even as they play and fight so loudly in the truck, far too close to my aging and sensitive ears.

I’m thankful for my health, each and every day I go to work, or get a phone call and must deal with the repercussions of life and living, often through no fault of anyone other than Father time.

I’m thankful for everyone who has touched my life. They say people are in our lives for a reason, a season, or forever, and I am grateful for each lesson they bring, no matter how challenging or joyous.

But most of all, I am so thankful that I have today to celebrate, and the chance to live in the moment, even when some moments feel hard.

Because the moments are where we truly live, where we learn the answers to the big questions, such as the one my children wanted to answer today as I drove.

What does the fox say?

Do you know?
