Sundays blessings

I struggled out of bed this morning,

Long before the sun was up in the sky.

Too many people in my house,

Making too much noise in their sleep,

And I had a night mare on a wild ride.

I felt so much older than time

should have allowed,

But coffee and a book read alone

Slowly brought me to myself.

My throat scratchy and neck sore,

Shivers wracked my body

And told me it was time to rest.

For once, I listened.

I relaxed,

Did no housework

No brain work.

I ate then stumbled back to my room

For a nap with my golden boy.

A gentle snore and whistle,

his soft but possessive arm on my face.

Together,

We dreamed the afternoon away
