What gives life meaning?

Reading Being Mortal by Atul Gawande,

I’ve found myself in a contemplative mood.

What allows us to continue despite the loses we incur, Sometimes subtle,

other times dramatic and cruel?

Tonight, I introduced my kids to Darkwing Duck.

The warmth of the youngest pressed against my side

Filled me with a deep sense of belonging.

I’ve come full circle

As my childhood collides with theirs,

I feel five again

Meaning is wherever we find it,

whether through literature or cartoons,

and for me,

Always with the ones I love,

big and small,

near and far
