Life’s little moments

Today I celebrated life.

I cleaned, mopped and did laundry,

Dishes, tidying, the works.

I took my children to play,

And we decided

which kind of dragons we’d be,

Which powers we’d have

All because we read ‘dragon water’

Instead of drinking water

On the back of a truck

I held my little one

as he fell asleep on my lap

Enjoying his soft warm body

as he snored gently for an hour and a half

While I waited for him to wake up

so I could move again

I had a dream date with my husband

Nothing exorbant,

But exactly what I needed

A dinner, conversation,

And ice cream

Hand holding and door opening.

I arrived home,

Christmas presents in hand,

Sneaking in

to find children 1,2,3 all fast asleep

I hid the presents

Put the sleeping child on the couch to bed,

Savouring the moments

that made today so special

In recognition of those

Who’ve passed on.
