What does it mean to be a legend?

We all know the stories

of people and places,

memories of our collective past

that are told,

retold

Whether of vampires and goblins,

or people larger than life.

Holidays are part of that,

and we all celebrate our own.

Santa, The twelve nights,

Dias de los muertes,

so many more.

Stories I’ve listened to

since I knew how to remember,

tales I’ve read since I could read,

new ones I discover on a lucky day.

They draw me in,

make wonder,

inspire me to work harder

think bigger.

Maybe one day,

I’ll write a legend of my own.
